You can’t separate these two.
I Guess it is a deep and intimate part of my philosophy which goes “never like yourself” so that, when applied, propositions like “I never like myself” appear in your head.
One should look at the sunset and the sunrise and feel bad for it because the sun never rises or sets. To claim that the sun rises or sets is a lie or a mistake. The Earth is spinning.
In the words of JeHOVAh, “if you think the sun rises, I feel bad for the sun.” And continues “I’ve got 99 problems and I feel bad for the sun.”
An Octagon has 8 sides and that is a fact about octagons in one’s head. It is a mental fact as plain as the definitions of the words. A strange mental fact because a two dimensional octagon does not exist in nature, just like God and Free Will.
Another central tenet of my philosophy is suicidal ideation. One should constantly focus on images of self immolation, diving off of buildings, and having three or four shadow-like figures smash pick axes through one’s temple and eye holes until one’s head is a pile of mush, consistency of mashed potatoes.
One should always be consistent with mashed potatoes. Live fluidly, and take the shape of any container in which one is placed. I was once placed inside a styrofoam cup, and, after three days of dehydrating in the sun, was gnarled apart by wild dogs with patchy, filthy coats of fur as if someone had vomited on them from a rooftop.

I was a bit too busy and tired this week to finish a song. When I really started getting into it, I broke a guitar string. Also packing things up for the move. So here is one of my favorite songs by Capt. J. Moses.
The Great Unknown
A song that ventures into undiscovered territory
This song seemed like a good choice to record this week. I will be moving into Logan Square in Chicago soon with a great bunch of people. It’s going to be a new experience that I’m thrilled to begin.
Originally, I wrote this song years ago. I was going to include it as part of a project that me and future roommate Ryan were collaborating on. With a linked history and a promising future, the “magic is knowing the difference” to quote the suggested title.
No, I don’t know what I’m supposed to know, and that’s the great unknown.
Which Way, Johnny Shines?
A blues tribute to Johnny Shines and the questions I’m sure everyone asked him
I wrote this song this past saturday morning and spent hours working at it. Like it or not, this is the best take I’ve gotten so far. The faded ending is an example of different incarnations the song went through.
“Show me your soul. Can’t show me your soul, so how can you sell it?”
I don’t even know how I came to write this. My guitar was still in the key of G, so I decided to read. I read about the crossroads and remembered that legends have walked the same paths we walk over today.
I imagined asking (like so many others), “Which way, Johnny Shines, did Robert ride?”
I hope you enjoy. Thanks.
Care Don’t Cut Fresh
A love song with the conviction of confliction
I wrote this song a few years back. While flipping through my living works, I felt it best fit my state these days and wanted to rerecord it. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of adjustment, but I think I will soon have my land legs or at least a sleeping room.
With all the hair out of my eyes, I can refocus, but as is annually, it’s just an opportunity for further growth. I can only compare this feeling to a harvest or sorting socks. Care don’t cut fresh, and I’m sick to death of everything.
Until next time,
I hope you enjoy.
Liable Lillian
A psychedelic tune that imagines a mischievous little girl too quick to catch
I wish I could’ve sung this a little better, but as I stated my hurt my throat, which I must prepare before the show at Lincoln Hall this Wednesday. I really like this song a lot though, so I hope you enjoy it. We’ll just consider it an early version.
Things are so hectic again, and I’m out the door to work. Enjoy all! Hit me up, and I’ll catch up with ya later.
